Controversy with a Capital C

The new, soon to be released, Survivor is going to create unparalleled controversy. What is CBS thinking?!? They are really playing with fire by dividing the participants into groups based on ethnicity.
Racial discutions are an extremely touchy subject in the USA. As comented by Lind holmes in an MSNBC article, the "American audience fears its inability to productively process and discuss race more than it fears disgusting food, isolation among strangers, or stinging jellyfish." With an audience displaying such feelings toward racial issues, this show is just asking for trouble.
The setup of the show, 20 participants divided into 4 groups: hispanic, white, black, and asian, is the ultimate setup for disaster. This grouping sets these 4 representative ethnic groups against each other in a race to determine who is best. What better way to piss everyone off? I trully cannot think of a bigger screw up on CBS's behalf.
Stuff like this should not be aired in a world with an ever so delicate balance among races. This may very well set the whole thing off and blow up in everyone's face.
I don't think we are ready for this kind of show down and i doubt tha we ever will.
