Different Cultures

I learned much from reading these articles, but I also did not. I grew up in a mostly white community in a suburb of Chicago. The only racist things I ever really heard about were between the whites and the blacks. I always knew that there were other problems, but I guess that if one were to not grow up with it, it does not exist to them. I truly believe that we are reading these articles for a reason, and that reason is to show us that the world is not perfect, and there are crimes against other people being committed, whether we want to believe it or not. Even though we have only touched the tip of the iceberg on the subject, it will be hard for us to close our eyes to the topic at hand again. The whole subject of making fun of people or judging them based poorly on race confuses me. I do not understand how anyone can go by only what they see and not by how they feel after actually speaking to a person. People need to start opening their eyes and see that no matter how they feel, no matter how they act, others who are different from them will be around. No one is normal, our differences are what make us human. Some people are just a little more different from others.
