Learning about different races

Learning about different cultures and races is very important and is something that everyone should have to do. This class is trying to show us that there are not just racial concerns involving black and white, all races face the same segregation and stereotypes. Racial discrimination has been a major problem for hundreds of years, but why? Becuase people do not understand what they consider to be different. If everyone would just take the time to learn about other ways of life, then people would begin to see that we really are not that different after all. Every culture has stereotypes that are untrue, people that help society, and people that try to bring society down. That is something the each and every one of us needs to learn and understand

After reading a few of these short stories I learned a lot about different races that I did not know before. However, perhaps the most interesting thing was the story about the Indian woman. I was surprised to learn that not only are Indian woman having to fight to save their culture, they are also having to fight other Indian men to save their lives. I had no idea that there is such aggression among the Native American people. It is shocking that the American government seems to have done nothing to try and stop this violence and protect these people.
