readings....

What did I get out of the readings? The most dominant things that really stuck out were the view people had of the Jewish women, the reasons for switching gender and how hard it can be, as well as how being white is a privilege. I think the fact that not even knowing that JAP had anything to do with Jewish women. It was equally surprising that the meaning of the word was so negative. On the topic of the transsexuals, I have not necessarily been involved with it but have had many encounters. Not knowing what goes through their minds just kills me. I work at Wildcat which is teaching kids how to play baseball, and there is a transsexual that rides ‘his’ bike by everyday. We call it Chuck. It is easy to see why it would bother me so much. The stats and testimonies in that particular story were just shocking to read because it seems so far fetched and stupid.

When reading these stories you could just hear the people crying out about how pathetic their life was or how they were treated for no reason. Putting yourself in their shoes is pretty much impossible considering none of us have had a sex change or have been considered ‘easy’ by any means. The logos is most prevalent in the last story about white privilege in the lists. There is some ethos/credibility but not really broad. The most well conveyed pathos would be in the first two stories when the people are explaining what happened to them and how they were treated.
