Survivor

After thirteen Survivor seasons it is no surprise that the producers of the show are trying to be as created as possible to keep people interested. They have already pulled out every twist and turn that you could think of in the previous seasons and now they have turned to race as an attention getter. There will now be teams separated into white, black, asian, and hispanic. Just reading that makes me think controversy. Discrimination between people of different races is already a major problem in the world and this show is not going to help that issue. By putting these four races into different groups and having them compete against each other is basically saying, "Lets see which race is better." By doing this it seems as though we are taking a huge step back in fighting racial segregation and discrimination. Even though this is reality which, lets face it, is fake this Survivor will no doubt stir up plenty of debate among people of all racial backgrounds.

However, if the producers of Survivor were looking for better ratings then they had exactly the right idea. This new season has already created a ton of media attention and people will no doubt watch the show, if just for the simple fact that everyone is now curious what is going to happen. I have never been a huge Survivor fan but even I am quite intrigued and will most likely watch this season to see the outcome.
