testimonies....
We read these stories about a few people from different cultures and their personal experiences for more than one reason. The main reason is to understand the perception of that particular person and what they have went through in their life. As we read these stories, we can just hear the voice of the people and it will most definitely seem like the blame is being put on us for the way our culture has bashed on others. I learned a lot about the different cultures. By reading these testimonies I realize that what people believe may have a big influence on how people actually act. This is illustrated in the story about the struggles that American Indian women face today. The men of the Indian nation were falsely accused of being mean and very brutal to the women. Because of this, the Indian men eventually got so mad that they turned into what many others said they were. Other things that caught my attention were: the mocking of the Puerto Rican society with the puppet, the other was in the first story b the Chinese woman with the quote, “Since I looked like the enemy, I must be the enemy.” It is pretty ironic to read what she has to say about breaking the racial barrier at Princeton. Another thing that just catches your eye is just looking at the last story and seeing the word JAP over what seems, a million times! The most important thing is to never judge people until talking to them and understanding some things about them.
