when i was reading about the japs and the transgenders, i was already aware of most of the things that they were talking about, i knew that people who want to change their sex have to go to counseling and get permission from their therapist, i didnt know on the other hand about some of the japs like being called japs and i had never heard of jap slapping or the jewish american princess. i had always know that japanese people were called japs but it wasnt untill i read J.A.P. slapping that i found out that jewish people were called that at all, it just seemed to me that japanese people would have that name... not jewish people. i was a little up set when i started to read the stories on transgender. if a peson looks like a guy and is really a girl the world is going to treat that person as if she were a boy and make her feel as if she needs to act like one. the story about the girl who looked like a boy and never obtained the qualities of a girl acted as if she were a boy and even went as far as going to the male public restrooms because of all the fights that she got into because society believed her to be a boy. who has the right to tell ther that she has to be a girl? if she has the money and wants to be a boy then i think that everyone around her has to deal with it, no one has to deal with it except for her. just because we may not feel very comfortable around them doesnt give us the right to make them feel less human. i myself have never met a transgender person, but if by the way that we treat these people, they feel that they have to go and use dishwashing fluids or floor wax to get the job done is just inhuman. they shouldnt feel that they need to get the job done as soon as possible because they are tired of the looks and being pushed out of organizations. a person is a person no matter what and i think that society needs to lighten up on them. and i also feel the same way about rascim. i dont like it and never have. i learned a lot from these stories but what i learned most of all, was how cruel and mean parts of the world can be to me a japanese person is not a jap and a spanish person is not a spic or any of the other nick names society gives to people. were all just people.
