An exciting hour of football

As a frequent viewer of football games, I expected pretty much what I got when I watched the commercials. Usually, I don't think about what type of audience is being targeted but I can tell that the marketing involved is geared towards men. The rhetoric used to target my audience is male-oriented. A stereotypical male is usually someone that drinks beer, enjoys football, working on cars, and likes very attractive women. So of course, many commercial were advertising this. I can't entirely say that I am dissappointed however since I do enjoy an occassional beer, football, working on cars, and women. In this way, marketing is very well done since I am a viewer much more inclined to buy into advertisement when it targets me. The beer commercials usually involved some type of demeaning presentation of women (the presentation of a woman's body to sell goods). I am not of course implying that I did not enjoy watching the hot woman in the bikini but I could say that this type of commercial would not sell as well if the advertisement was for someone far younger or of a different gender than I. I think society tries to force the tough guy image on most men and as a result, many advertisement involved the really deep "ARE YOU READY?!?!?" voice which draws the attention of many males. Although it is easy to breakdown how advertisements are marketed towards people, I believe wholeheartedly that they work. The presentation of certain products during the right type of program is going to affect the sale of your product much better than during an ineffective program. I look forward to the voice again during the next football game I watch.
