Halloween is interesting time in terms of the styles of costumes one might see. It gives off a real good sense of how women and men portray their figure and gender personality. I attended a halloween party last night, (i was there strictly for academic reasons) and noticed one big, general difference between the two sexes. First off, many of the males were dressed up in two different ways. The two different costumes themes were funny or masculine. The funny costumes were worn by guys who like attention by making people luagh. examples of these types of costumes are a condom dispenser, kissing booth, spiderman with tights, and a princess outfit. Masculine costume examples are a beer, soldier, the devil, thug, or just a guy walking arond with his shirt off. The opposite end of the spectrum were the girls costumes. These costumes could be broken up into two different categories as well. The first category was a pernmiscous and slutty image. Girls dressed like this were craving for male attention and wacted to show off their bodies as well. some even girls tanned for the occasion, i could tell because their skin was sunburned. examples of these costumes are police officer, catwoman, construction worker, nurse, and school girl. The thing was they were all skimpy and extremley tight on their bodies. The other type was the innocent girl look. These costumes were tigger, piglet, fairy, princess, and butterfly. THe costumes people wore definately projected what our society thinks each gender should look like and it was incredable to see the contrast first hand.
