Halloween

When you are little kids Halloween is the time to dress up as a Cinderella, Aladdin, a cat, or Superman. It is an innocent holiday where kids get to run around and fill up bags of candy. However, sometime between middle school and high school kids’ views on Halloween change. Instead of being a time to dress up and get candy, it becomes, for most people, a time to dress up and party. The problem now with this occasion is that most girls end up dressing "slutty". Even my own friends said that Halloween is the only time a girl can get by with dressing promiscuously. It is like the girls pick anything to be and then puts the word sexy in front of it: sexy cop, sexy construction worker, sexy soldier, sexy pilot, and the list goes on. However, guys seem to be dressed in something humorous, which may be something that even little kids would wear. Guys tend to still want to be dressed up either scary or as some kind of super hero.
So why do girls feel the need to put themselves out there and be “eye candy” to the guys? Who knows, but they seem to think it is okay. So then where do all these dressed up people go…like I said earlier, a party. Now this does not apply to everyone who goes to parties, but I think it can safely be argued that most people drink at these parties. Therefore it is a night when guys and girls get to dress up however they want and drink way more than they probably usually would, “just because it is Halloween”. How did this cute little kid holiday get manipulated so bad, I will never know.
