Halloween

As a child, Halloween was one of my favorite holidays. My favorite costume was this tiger outfit, until I lost the tail one year. I remember running from house to house as fast as I could, even in the rain or snow, to get as much candy as possible. But as I grew older, the Halloween season began to have a different meaning. By middle school and high school, it wasn't so much about going out to get candy, but to get attention. Not so much in middle school, but definitely in high school, it wasn't about the candy anymore. I started attending halloween parties, instead of going door-to-door. My high school parties, are very similar to the halloween parties I witnessed here this past weekend. All the girls are wearing as little as possible, to get attention from guys. It is no longer about the candy, but about the sex appeal. Pretty much any type of costum you can think, has been changed to be more revealing. I have heard it said by many girls that Halloween is the one time of the year that girls are allowed to dress sluty and nobody can say anything about it. As children where the competition was about how much candy one could get, in high school and college it is who can be the most revealing. Guys on the other hand, are necessarily trying to show off their bodies. Most are dressed it funny outfits, like beer kegs, condoms, pimps anything else you can imagine. I am not going to lie, it is a lot of fun to get dressed up for Halloween, I still enjoy it, like i did as a kid. I keep the amount of skin I reveal to a minimum, compared to some of the costums I witnessed this weekend. These costums, say more than your words, they are visual rhetoric. You outfit and how you present yourself, will most likely be how someone will perceive you.
