Little girls with there lacey princess costumes and bouncing curls, and little boys with faces painted and black capes dangling from around their necks. As a child I loved Halloween. I loved to see all the the differnts characters, and of course I loved receiving free candy. As I grew older, I slowly stopped planning monthes in advance what I would dress up as, and stopped getting as excited for the event. Finally, when I was in eighth grade, I did my last trick-or-treat rounds around my neighborhood. It was a sad time, because I thought the candy and the dressing up would be over for good, little did I know college would soon come, and all of a sudden we would become children again.
Halloween in college is a contest. For some girls, it is a silent competition to see who can show the least amount of skin, and still be considered as having a costume on. For the guys, it a contest for who can be the most rediculous looking. I observed men dressed as women, foods, famous television stars, and even random everyday objects that should never even have been considered as a costume. Halloween in college is a rewind of the last few years of finally coming to a realization that dressing up is only for the little kids.
