No Cinderella Story: No Accurate Description

The film “No Cinderella Story” is a very inaccurate description to try to fit to every teen in America. The point that the creator, Michael Keenan, tried to get across was obvious: teens are randomly having sex because there’s nothing else to do, and they do not know any better because they all came from broken families. However, Keenan was really off. He interviewed teens from a very limited sample, not allowing for a precise conclusion concerning teens and their love/sex/dating lives. First, not every teen goes around having sex with random people. In the small town I grew up in, this was looked down upon by most parents, as my town was primarily made up of Christians. If he would’ve interviewed people there, his results would have greatly differed. Next, he was wrong as to why teens are having sex. Every teen he interviewed were of the same opinion that they were bored, so they had sex. I know this isn’t true for every teen having sex. Some do it for their self-esteem, some are pressured, some for the reason he gave, and various other reasons. Finally, not every teen that has sex randomly comes from a broken home. I am sure some of their parents are still together. Not to mention, many teens come from divorced families and do not treat sex so lightly. Keenan’s interviewees came from the same town, and seemed to be hand picked to fit the description he wished to portray. If he were to do a more accurate film as to why teens are having sex, he would interview a variety of teens, and include teens that were not having sex.
