No Cinderella Story
The documentary “No Cinderella Story,” is biased, but if you did not know that you might fall into the trap that “everyone is doing it”. The documentary was made on Staten Island with teens ranging from 15 to 20 years old. First, it’s biased because the teens are all from the same area, to be a more realistic documentary there needs to be teens from the Midwest, Southwest, and Southeast. The documentary also made guys seem more promiscuous that girls do to the fact that there were more girls in the documentary than boys. The other large problem with this documentary is that it was full of fallacies. The teens said that they were bored and that there is nothing to do in Staten Island so they go and have sex. Boredom does not lead to sex you can go out and find something to do instead of sex. Also they said they drink and some do drugs and this leads to them having sex. People can go out and party and even drink and not have sex, drinking and drugs to do not lead to sex, having sex is a decision you make and the alcohol and drugs do not make it for you. Lastly, they said that since their parents are divorced it leads to them having premarital sex. Using your parents as an excuse for your actions is wrong. Yes, their parents may be bad role models, but there are plenty of role models out there for teens to look up to.
This documentary was an excellent idea to gather information on what teens are doing and why they are having sex, but it was too biased. The documenter did not get a diverse group of individuals, he had all teens from Staten Island and from divorced parents. “No Cinderella Story” makes the viewer believe that everyone is doing it and that it is ok to do it, when in truth most teens may not be doing it.
