The optional video i chose to watch was "happy ending." the video is about a kid who has never really had a mom or dad because of drugs. his mom had her first kid when she was fourteen and she had four kids by the time she turned 28. I believe this docemnetary is a very accurate depiction of how families broken up by drugs interact with one another. It is extremely sad to see because all this kid wants is his mom to be there for christmas and she always forgets. all that is on her mind is doing drugs or making money selling drugs. He lives in New York now with his grandma and he asks his grandmother why his mom turned out the way she did. She says that she had a violent marraige and she was always working. i think this is yet another example of how kids without leadership from parents struggle to make it in life. His grandmother also tells him never to listen to his mother because he is not her priority, drugs are. When he finally goes to confront his mom and ask her to move back to New York, she is veryu curt towards her son and bascially says no way. It is sad also becuase she is supposedly clean whebn it becomes very apparent throughtout the interview that she stil has some drug issues to work out. This documentary, unlike cinderella story, did a very good job of exploiting A real word problem and the possible causes of this common scenario.
