What the hell?

What is the point? If people are really that bored in Stanton Island, why is it easier to hook up with a person of the opposite sex to do actions that are only supposed to be sanctified by marriage than it is to make something exciting out of nothing. In the movie that we watched in class, a numerous amount of teenagers from Stanton Island New York gave their personal viewpoints of what really goes down in their hometown. Surprisingly, the most shocking thing about the people in this visual survey is that they are all under the age of 20 and are talking about sexual experiences. When the ‘children’ were interviewed to see what really went on in their heads, it was proven that most of them had no reason for what they did. Sex is just something to do to these people. In fact, here at Purdue, it appears that most people only want the weekends to get here quicker so they can hook up with some random hot guy or sexy girl. But, to get back on topic, the times have changed quite severely. Back in the 60’s and rarely today, fathers will not permit their daughters to date until the age of 16. Women today are having sex by 16. This is a complete turn around compared to some of today’s young ladies. Sex is a cataclysmic event that can permanently damage a person, let alone a relationship. It appears that people these days do not value romance in a relationship or value the other person in their relationship. Dating is just a reason to take a girl out to get through the night to get in her pants. STD’s have no meaning to people these days. The common misconception is that nobody has a romantic, functioning relationship today. What is the world coming to?
