Survivor Promotes Segregaton
A White team, a Black team, an Asian team, and a Spanish team. These are the new rules for survivor 2006. Each team is split up according to race. This is discrimination on CBS's part for approving these guidelines. I am sure that they were trying to raise the ratings for the show, and that is perfectly respectable, but to put a group of people together and split them up according to race is called segregation. The entire twentieth century was devoted to eliminating segregation, and great American leaders have lost their lives for the cause. Now here we are in 2006, promoting it on national television for young people around the world to witness, and believe is acceptable.
The 2006 season will, and has already raised some eyebrows, and pushed the envelope. As I was researching, trying to locate information regarding Survivor 2006, I ran into many articles and blogs designated to the new rules. People are shocked and outraged, yet intrigued by the idea of different races competing. They don't want their children thinking that racial segregation, and stereotyping is acceptable in today's society. If attention is what Survivor was striving for, then they have defiantly achieved that, but I don’t think that they approached it in an intelligent way by any means.
