Whenever I find the time to watch TV, I mostly only will watch sports. I absolutely love sports, so why not spend an hour watching it? I noticed many things that got me more into watching the show. It's loud, fast paced, excited, just as obnoxious as us watching. With our society, ESPN and other sports networks, are geared mostly towards men. Stereotypically, you can imagine a guy watching football drinking some beer. Naturally, many beer commercials exist on these networks. If you watch a football game for example, the commentators are not boring, or just talk with a monotone voice. They are yelling out the plays, and showing great excitement for the game. If you have any interest in the game, you are cheering right along with them. It isn't unheard of of women enjoying ESPN or sports, but seems unnatural. During the game, all of the commentators are men. In our society, it is hard to imagine that same guy, watching football, drinking a beer, listening to a woman yell for his favorite football game. I love watching football, and I love yelling at the TV at my favorite team. I'll sit and watch all the pregame stories, and the entire game, listening to whatever the guys in charge have to tell me. But, as all of this may be intended for men, occasionally a story is thrown in that may appeal to women. Every saturday morning, during the early part of college game day on ESPN, there is always a story of an athlete or coach with a sad story in their lives. For example, last week, there was a story of two college athletes that suffered injuries that left them paralized. I do enjoy watching these, but one of my friends who is a girl, was deep into the story paying close attention, soon to lose that attention during the game.
