Lord of the Simpsons

To begin with, the students are stranded on a deserted island. The pilot, who in this case is Otto, is absent and there are no grown-ups on the island. Everyone begins to fight and Milhouse is scapegoated and ridiculed by the rest of the group. Milhouse takes on the role of Piggy in that it is his glasses used and he has Asthma. Throughout the episode, the kids also show progressively worse signs of savagery. For example, the beginning is rather organized. Lisa and Bart take on the role of Ralph in that Bart summons the "assembly" with the Conch shell while Lisa argues that society needs more rules and that they are not savages. However, Nelson, who has taken the role of Jack uses his power to create more savagery amongst the children. What once was the organized group of kids trying to build a shelter, keep a fire going, and get food became a pack of animals out to hunt Milhouse, Bart, and Lisa. However, there are many differences. For example, nobody dies. In the Simpsons episode, I do not think sufficient evidence is shone that the other children really plan to kill Bart, Lisa, and Milhouse as in Lord of the Flies when Ralph is being chased down but the three are saved before the "hunt" is over. I think the ending is also very different. In the episode of the simpsons, the conflict is resolved before the arrival of an adult to return order to the students. However, in Lord of the Flies, the conflict is not resolved until someone with more power comes to restore balance. In the end, the Simpsons is a great show that has the ability to comment on many aspects of human society including Lord of the Flies.
