I feel that there have been many things that I have learned from this class. From day one I did not really know what to expect, and put my expectations as just becoming a better writer. From all of my English classes I have taken previously I was shocked to see the pace and depth this course went into. All other classes that I have taken just show the basics and structures, bet have never applied things to the real world. I am also very happy in how my writing has improved. With all of the new ideas and concepts that I have learned in this course I was able to pick out a subject to write about. Before coming into this course it was very difficult for me to decide on a topic to write about, and now I feel I have learned to look deeper and pull out important details that are not seen right from the start. Some of the stories we read were very shocking, but I am happy that I put in a class that presented these concepts to me. I have always been aware of difficult situations and problems different classes and people have faced. After the things we have read, and to the depth we had to go to discuss and regurgitate what we had learned gave me a greater knowledge. I have seen a lot more perspectives and problems that occur everyday that I never even think about. Most importantly, I feel that I have taken on a greater respect and understanding for people that do not seem “normal” to me. Gender and rhetoric is a very important topic to discus because we face it every day. My expectations were passed and I am happy that i stuck through this course.
