Disney Princess

After going to the only true source of information about this admired Princess', but the disney website, I found the progression of female disney characters. I noticed that the attire of the early princess was very conservative, full dresses, revealing nothing. Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, were all examples of this. They were very well mannered and polite. Snow White, goes to the dwaft house and immediately begins to clean. This fulfills the typical role of females as they are viewed in society. Cinderella is forced to do chores around the house and is treated like a maid. But as time goes on, each princess begins to reveal more. Pocahontas, Jasmine, Ariel are wearing the very least of them all. These princess' are also, much more free spirited. Pocahontas ventured off on her own, but was still restricted by the rules of her father. Ariel was roamed the waters, but was also restricted by her father, and unable to go on land. The three mentioned above, were more adventurous and more eager to push the limits. While Snow White and Cinderella, followed the rules and accepted their place. You notice that Cinderella does in fact break the rules by going to the ball, but she lacked a father role model to go against. The original princess' all lived in castles, while as time progressed the princess' appeared in different places. These different places also contribute to the princess' to discover different things, and break the social norms. But no matter the change in location, the change in fashion each princess is looking for her prince charming to rescue her in the end. Even though the appearance of some of the princess' has changed the need for a romantic ending has not. These movies are created for children, even though the appearances portrayed by the princess' is not always age appropriate. These movies, from the beginning, have young ladies believing that they are in search for their prince charming. And that when they are in danger he will come rescue her. The appearance of these princess' may change but the story plot will always remain the same.
