Cosmo

Occasionally, I will pick up a Cosmopolitan magazine to cure my bored ness. The last one I picked up is the October issue. However, the main reason I picked it up is because there is a section on Patrick Dempsey, who is Dr. Shepard on Grey’s Anatomy. Although on the front cover there are other things: 30 Sex Boosters, Every Guy’s Private Marriage Checklist, Gorgeous Skin, Sexy vs. Skanky, Discover The Sex Fantasy 68% of Men Have, and 21 Sneaky Tricks to Get Guys to Do What You Want. One could easily guess this magazine is around making yourself more attractive to guys and everything that has to do with sex. About 75% of the stuff in this magazine is just pure crap. It should not be taken seriously; women can get by in life just fine without following the guidelines in Cosmo. Whereas Cosmo is geared more toward high school and above, Cosmogirl is geared more towards middle school and early high school. Cosmogirl is basically the same except it does not directly talk about sex. It will tell you “how to get guys” or “how to be sexy”. Both of these magazines are just so superficial that women should be careful reading them. It is magazines like these that make women feel self conscious and insecure about themselves. This is not a good thing especially if young girls are reading it. No one should feel like it is what Cosmo says that makes someone a woman. I do not feel there is anything wrong with reading this as long as you realize to take everything with a grain of salt, but not everyone gets that. I would not want my daughters reading this. I would not want them getting any ideas.
