No Cinderella Story
I beleive the creator of "No Cinderella Story" produced this document to empasize the impact of environment on later decisions. The majority of the teenagers questioned came from a broken family, a lower economic class, and an urban area. The producer interviewed only certain individuals with a particular backround in order to emphasize the impact of environment on development.
The creator made this documentary for a general audience. I beleive his purpose was to stress the importance of the home environment to both kids and adults, males and females. He does this by setting up the interviews in the same neighborhood in a urban area, and only interviews teens with similar conditions growing up. For instance, his first round of interviews with the young adults examines exactly what they do in their free time and their views on premarital sex and underage drinking. He then interviews the same kids later and asks about their home lives, to which all of them respond their parents divorced when they were young. Also, judging from the buildings in the backround of the documentary they neighborhood was lower class. This approach to interviewing makes me beleive that the creator was trying to emphasize that these aspects led to their later decisions.
This documentary is beneficial to everyone who watches it. Understanding that a broken home and unfavorable living conditions can cause problems helps those who watch this documentary avoid both. This documentary does a very good job of conveying these ideas and, although somewhat biased, creates a formidable argument for the impact of environment on later behavior.
The creator of this documentary produced this documentary to impress the importance of environment on development. He does this by examing a specific environment and the analyzing the specific results.
