Happy Ending and Journey

In Happy Ending, the narrator, tells us what is like to have parents addicted to drugs. His mother become pregnat with him at a young age of 14 years old. By age 28, she was addicted to many drugs, costing $800 a day to support. He explains how difficult it is to have to live with her, and at a young age, he had to start working to help support he habit. The narrator explains how it is hard to trust his mother, because she never follows through with what she says. His grandmother isn't sure if it is her fault that his mother turned out this way. His mother, didn't have a dependable male figure to look up to and her mother was always working. While his stepdad also had an addiction problem, leading them both to be in and out of jail. This video, show the difficulty of a child with parents that are drug addicts. How the child had to support the parent and the lack of parental support. It shows how drugs can take over your life, and how if affects the lives of others. This is an actual problem in the world, affecting youth all over. I would say this was an accurate portrayal of what occurs in real life. This video wanted to show this affects from a real victim. The narrator explains how even though his life has been difficult due to his mothers drug addiction, he will always love his mother.

The Journey to the Unknown, was the second video that I watched. This was about the narrators coming out party. She related her coming out, to the way her friends came out. Two of her friends became pregnant at the young age of 15. Both young teenagers, said that they would never have an abortion. While one of her friends did give birth to her child. Unfortunately, her other friend lost her baby, because her brother beat her up. Both teenagers had no support from the father of their babies. These boys, were previously their boyfriends, that they loved, but after the baby they wanted nothing to do with them. The narrator's mother, was also a young teenage mother, and she does not want to do the same. This video, shows how unplanned and teenage sex can be hard. From her personal experience with a young mother, her life was difficult, and she didn't always have a male figure in her life. She chooses to not follow in the footsteps of her mother, she wants a better life for herself and her children.
