Re-examination

The maker of this film did have a point, and a message to deliver. While I do not agree with the way in which he presented it, there is a problem. While certainly not affecting all teenagers across the nation, the situations shown do affect a portion of them. Many teens go about acting like that with no remorse. Its not just the fact that they are having sex, its the careless way they think about it. They do not treat the act, their partner, or themselves with respect. The attitude shown by most of the kids was indifference. They discussed what was going on, they even acknowledged that it was a problem, but they did not seem to give a shit. They laughed about it. I think the key concern here is the inability of those kids to consider their future or their responsibilities. They care more about going out than they do anything else, even their family.
Another problem I saw presented was impatience. Some of the girls talked about Cinderella, hence the name of the movie. They, like many or most young girls, always dreampt of meeting a Prince Charming who would sweep them off their feet and love them forever. But then they gave up. I am pretty sure that Cinderella was older than 16 when she met her prince. Those girls acted as if the only reason they went out and slept around was because they waited so long to fall in love but never did. They think their lives are tragic because they didn't meet the man of their dreams while they were still in puberty! Everybody wants a fairytale life, and sometimes people get it. But giving up on it that early in life is just laziness; the girls just make excuses. The problem isn't just the parents or the schools or the environment, it stems from the impatience of today's youth.
